On the road, Washington DC, Days 1 and 2

Cross RoadI had planned to post an update last night before I got some much-needed sleep, but, of course, there was no internet signal in my room with the free Wi-Fi. Today I’ve got a decent signal but I had to buy a day-pass to log on. I know! I couldn’t believe it either. Dang, I haven’t paid for internet in so long, I nearly fainted when I had gotten all my stuff out of my car (who’da thunk so much stuff would fit in there?!), got it all arranged, introduced my dog to the doggie playground area very close to the room—only to find out that internet is offered but not for free. Argh! Well, annoying as that is—and it is, terribly—I’m much too tired to even think of hunting for another place to stay tonight. Tomorrow’s the big day, the reason I’m here, and I have to get ready for it. Have to prepare myself for marching in freezing rain and wind. At least, that’s what the forecast was last time I heard it.

How was the drive up, you ask? Rainy. Windy. Foggy! Plus I took a wrong exit and made myself drive much further than I would have if I’d printed out the directions or if I’d paid attention when I read the directions online the day before we left. Who’s “we”? My little doggie and me, that’s who. She’s at the doggie daycare right now and I’ll just bet she’s hopping mad.

“What?! We drive across the country just so’s you can kick me to the curb and leave me in a cell while you go bopping around town? Well, I like that…not!”

Yeah, I’ll bet she’s planning something very special for me when I pick her up later this evening. Something very special, indeed. Right! Guess I better sleep with one eye open tonight. ;)

I’ll post an update tomorrow after the march. I’ll try to get some photos. I want to see for myself how many folks turn out for this thing. And if I do get some photos, you’ll get to see, too. Peace be with you. And, please, keep us all in your prayers. Thank you!

About Disciple

I am a pro-life activist, blogger, writer, poet, singer songwriter, musician, photographer, nerd, bookworm and Mac fan. I have two dogs, one of whom is well-travelled. (I had three for a while after adopting a senior dog, but he has now passed away, and the pack is back to two girl dogs. One was born after, the days of mammoth road trips.) And the most important thing is: I was received into Holy Mother Church in 1996 and, through the grace of God, I love Christ and His Church more with every passing day. Thanks be to God!
